Carmen Ara Anaya, age 83, a resident of Vaughn passed away November 4, 2006 at the home of her daughter in Albuquerque surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Carmen was born June 17, 1923 in Encino, NM to the home of Baltazar and Donata Ara. She worked for the Vaughn Municipal Schools for 38 ½ years retiring in 1985. Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Angel Ara, Emilio Ara and Victoriano Petroch, sister; Felisa Rael, nephews; Victor Ara, Louie Rael and her great granddaughter; Angelina Carmen Romero. Survivors include her husband Paco (A.P.) Anaya of the family home in Vaughn, her daughters; Angela Gutierrez of Albuquerque, Patricia Anaya of Queen Creek, AZ, son; Robert Anaya of Albuquerque, sister; Regina Ara Alba of Chatsworth, CA, sister in law; Carmen Ara of Apple Valley, CA, brother in law; Isidro Rael of Vaughn. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Ara and Mico Gutierrez, Amber Anaya all of Albuquerque, Naomi Chavez and Jordan Anaya of Queen Creek, AZ, great granddaughters; Rianna and Raquel Murrietta of Queen Creek, AZ. Cousins; Ernest Perez, Cipriano Perez, Augustine Perez and Merceded Cravens of Encino, and a dear family friend Orlie Matthews of Albuquerque along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held of Tuesday, November 7, at 7:00 PM from St. Mary’s Church in Vaughn. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 8, at 10:00 AM also from St. Mary’s Church with Father Gerald Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Serving as Pallbearers will be Robert Anaya, Frank Rael, Tom Rael, Leopoldo “Mico” Gutierrez, Jr., Leopoldo “Mico” Gutierrez III and Miguel Romero. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Ara Gutierrez, Naomi Chavez, Amber Anaya, Jordan Anaya, John Angel Ara, Yolanda Ara, Dolores Ara Heaton, Louis Alba, Connie Alba, Jason Worster and Daniel Murrietta. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
