Willa Lee Brummett, 80 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away at her home following an extended illness. She was born January 26, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to the home of Willie B. and Wanda Lucille (Nevins) Brummett. She grew up in California and following her high school graduation served in the U.S. Air Force. Willa enlisted on September 22, 1958 until her honorable discharge on December 4, 1959. Willa worked as a nurse for several years. She later made her home in Clovis and attended Clovis Community College. Willa Graduated from CCC on May 16, 1997 with an Associate in Art with a General Studies major. While living in Clovis she worked as a substitute in the Clovis Public Schools cafeterias. She served for several years on the Boy Scouts of America Council. Willa made her home in Fort Sumner in 2003 and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed reading. She is preceded in death by her parents and her longtime companion Melton Floyd Hailey on February 1, 2017. Survivors include two sons, Friedrich Enders of Clovis and John Enders of Fort Sumner, one granddaughter Dlestra of Clovis and one sister Sharon Stewart of Redding, California. Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Taiban Community Cemetery, presided by Dan Lindsey, Fort Sumner Branch President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Due to the statewide restrictions pertaining to the COVID-19 Pandemic, services were limited to the immediate family.
