Valentin Lopez Jr. (77), a lifelong resident of Vaughn, NM, passed away peacefully at his home in Vaughn and was pronounced deceased at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa following a short illness. Valentin was born in Milagro to the home of Valentin Lopez, Sr. And Teresa (Segura) Lopez. He was raised in Milagro and later made his home in Vaughn. Valentin worked as a mechanic, tire repair man, and enjoyed working on his truck. Valentin enjoyed playing his harmonica and watching TV. He especially enjoyed watching Bonanza, The Rifleman, The Virginian, and other classic movies. He also enjoyed when his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would visit him. He also enjoyed playing with his dog, Chico. Valentin was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Vaughn. Valentin was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lopez, his parents Valentin Lopez, Sr. and Teresa (Segura) Lopez, sister Amelia Madril, brothers Apolonio, Emilio, and Rumaldo Lopez. Valentin is survived by his companion of 24 years, Helen Apodaca, his children include daughters Elizabeth Lopez ,Teresa (Manuel) Vaquera, sons Frank (Diane) Lopez, Apolonio Bobby Lopez, and Rick Lopez. His siblings include sisters Rita (Leroy) Madril, Martha (George) Archibeque, Maria Archibeque, Joann Lopez, brothers Guadalupe (Linda) Lopez, Daniel (Jeanette) Lopez, and Horacio (Patsy) Lopez. He is also survived by sister in law Inez Lopez and brother in law Joe Madril, grandchildren Rogelio lopez and wife (Lita), Rocio Lopez, Miguel Hernandez, Jesus Lopez and many more, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
