Tuck Noble Monk, 88 a longtime Melrose, NM resident passed away at his Amarillo, TX home on Monday, September 25, 2023. Mr. Monk was born March 31, 1935 in Portales, NM to Tuck Noble and Lucinda Jane (Maupin) Monk.

Mr. Monk grew up in Melrose and attended Melrose Schools. He married Patsy Ruth Sewell on July 5, 1952 at San Jon, New Mexico.

Tuck worked as a cattle rancher most of his life, he was a member of Kenton Baptist Church in Kenton, Oklahoma.

He was active in the Melrose community and served 6 years on the Village of Melrose Council, and an additional 8 years as Mayor. He also served on the Eastern New Mexico Natural Gas Board for 16 years. His pastimes include woodworking and fishing.

Tuck is preceded in death by his parents, a son Terry Ray Monk in 1956, a daughter Tiny Tammy Monk in 1958, two brothers Ray Monk and Houston Monk, three sisters Christine Monk, Nona Monk, and Melba Walker.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Patsy Monk of Amarillo, two sons Tim Monk (Ginny) of Amarillo, and Dan Monk (Kim) of Amarillo. Also surviving is one sister Velma Houston of Pottsboro, TX, five grandchildren Trent Monk (Shelly) of Waco, TX, Travis Monk (Amy) of Amarillo, Michael Monk (Hanna) of Amarillo, Kayla Shumacher (Austin) of Fort Worth, TX, and Kami Garza (Tristan) of Belton, TX, and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family requests contributions in memory of Tuck Monk to the Melrose Cemetery, P. O. Box 235, Melrose, New Mexico 88124.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Melrose Cemetery, Melrose, New Mexico with Sam Jackson officiating. Pallbearers will include, Trent Monk, Travis Monk, Austin Schumacher, Triston Garza, Michael Monk, Talon Monk, and Tripp Monk. Viewing for family and friends will be held at the Melrose Cemetery Shelter from 1pm until service time.
