Tristan Zane Valdez

Tristan Zane Valdez, 26 of Grants, NM passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Tristan was born on October 23, 1998, in Clovis, NM to Heather Jaramillo and Christopher Valdez. Tristan was raised in Santa Rosa, NM, where he attended school—graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 2017. 

While in high school, Tristan worked as a lifeguard at Park Lake and was a Junior Firefighter with the Santa Rosa Volunteer Fire Department. Following high school, Tristan enlisted in the US Navy. After his discharge, Tristan worked as a corrections officer at GEO in Santa Rosa. Currently, Tristan was working as a correctional officer at NE Correctional Facility in Clayton, NM.

Tristan will be remembered for his love for his family, making his family laugh and for researching all types of information.

Tristan is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother: Peggy Cain, his paternal grandfather: Ramon Valdez and his baby Evara Valdez.

Surviving Tristan are his parents: Heather (Josh) Jaramillo of Grants, NM, Christopher (Annette) Valdez of Clayton, NM, his siblings: Camden Valdez of Grants, NM, Mason Valdez, Benjamin Austin, Jerome Padilla, Naomi Padilla—all of Clayton, NM and Adam Jaramillo, of Pojoaque, NM. Also, surviving Tristan are his maternal grandmother: Marjorie Ward of Santa Rosa, NM, paternal grandmother: Margie Valdez of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, maternal grandfather: Bill Cain of Portales, NM, aunt: Krystal Rivera (Robert Orrantia) of Los Lunas, NM, uncles: Justin Rodgers (Tommie) of Santa Rosa, NM, Armando Valdez of California and Anthony Valdez of Clayton, NM, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Tristan will be Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 2PM at Blue Hole Convention Center in Santa Rosa, NM with Pastor Beau Lamb officiating.

Urn Bearers will include: Christian Trujillo, Joseph Vigil, Santana Campos, Ethan Patterson, Javante Chavez, Christian Chavez, the 2015 and 2016 Lion Football team and Coach Mario Trujillo.
