Tommy Marshall

Thomas “Tommy” Gordon Marshall, 74 passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at his Fort Sumner valley home. He was born November 1, 1950 the son of Hubert and Shirley (Conwell) Marshall. As a young boy, before he could drive, Tommy worked in the valley, hauling hay, for GA Gunn and Willie Gammill. He attended Fort Sumner Schools, graduating with the FSHS Class of 1968. He went to college at Texas Tech, South Plains, NMSU and ENMU. After 20 years of school, he received his degrees in University Studies from ENMU.

Tommy married his high school sweetheart, Tricia Walker, in 1969. He worked throughout the state in various places but their home was always on the Marshall farm in the valley. He worked for the Natural Resources Conservation Service for approximately 30 years and recently retired but continued working as a consultant. Tommy was always known and respected for his intelligence and work ethic by his coworkers.

Tommy had many interests and hobbies. He loved gardening, fishing, sunbathing, dancing, hunting with his boys, and he was a good cook. Even though he was a good fisherman, Trisha always caught the bigger fish.

Tommy and Tricia were the parents of two sons, Scott Howard and William Keith Marshall. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents Shirley Marshall in 2003, Hubert Marshall in 2021, and his two sons Keith Marshall in 2020 and Scott Marshall in 2022.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Tricia Marshall of their home in the Fort Sumner valley, five grandchildren Bryan (Maheli) Marshall, Brett Marshall, Jesse Marshall, Haley Marshall and Elizabeth Marshall, his sister Marcie Vick, along with a host of relatives and many friends.
