Tomas “Red” Romo, 62, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Guadalupe County Hospital with his close family at his side following an extended illness. “Red” as he was affectionately known was born April 3, 1956, in Anton Chico, NM, to the home of Victoria Romo. He enjoyed doing his lifelong job of being a mechanic, racing cars, watching western movies, visiting and drinking beer (getting his float stuck) with family and friends. Red is preceded in death by his mother Victoria Romo, brother Louie Romo, infant sister Christina Romo and brother Isidro Romo, grandmother Silvernia Romo, his aunts Juanita Romo, Virginia Romo, and Nea Aragon, Uncle Hilario Aragon, cousins Ramon Romo, Benito Aragon, Rick Aragon, Bruno Aragon, Rick Romo, Eddie Romo and Edward Romo, and special friend Yolanda Trujillo. Survivors include his son Leon Trujillo and wife Sara, grandson Cisco, granddaughter Brook and great granddaughter Jaylee, his daughters Krista Romo and Kalee Romo, his godchildren Eric Aragon Jr., Vanessa Sisneros and Josh Romero. His immediate family include four sisters, Mary Alice and husband Eric Aragon of Santa Rosa, Terry and husband Narciso Baca of Dahlia, NM, Sara and husband Fred Lopez of Rio Rancho, Mary Ann and husband Steve Angel from San Jon, NM, one brother Pat and wife Christine Cowan of Albuquerque, NM. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends. A rosary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. A gathering and lunch for family and friends will follow at the Blue Hole Convention Center. Serving as Pallbearers will be Leon Trujillo, Eric Aragon, Sr., Eric Aragon, Jr., Jason Aragon, Bryan Aragon, Vanessa Sisneros, and Josh Romero. Honorary bearers will be his nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S. Third Street, Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
