Tom JED Freeman

Thomas JED Freeman, 54 of Cloudcroft, NM passed away at his home on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Tom was born July 21, 1963 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to the home of Gary and Karen (McMickle) Freeman. He grew up in Iowa and lived in West Branch, IA for several years. Tom moved to Cloudcroft with the Jack Burds family where he attended and graduated from Cloudcroft High School.Following graduation Tom worked with his father in law in the building construction business. Tom currently owned and operated Freeman Construction Company in Cloudcroft. He enjoyed playing golf, and spending time with his family at the lake.Tom is preceded in death by his adoptive parents Jack and Kathy Burds.Survivors include his father, Gary Freeman of Sonora, Mexico and mother, Karen Davis of Grinnell, Iowa, a son Travis Freeman, two grandchildren Gedian and Obadiahs Freeman all of Cloudcroft. The mother of his son Sheri Wimsatt (Donna) of Cloudcroft, a brother Jeff Freeman (Beckie) of Mexico, and a sister Tammy Petersen (Tom) of Montezuma, Iowa. Also surviving are his adoptive siblings John Burds (Nancy) of Glenview, IL, Joseph Burds (Nadia) of El Paso, TX, Sherrie West (Bill) of Fort Sumner, Molly Kenyon (Clifford) of Fort Sumner, and Jacqueline Kenyon (Virgil) of Sierra Vista, AZ along with a host of nieces, and nephews who adored him along with many other relatives and friends.Visitation hours will be Friday, June 1, 2018 from 1pm to 6pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner. A memorial service will be held from 3pm-9pm on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Cloudcroft Ice Skating Rink, Cloudcroft, NM.Services are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
