Thomas Paul Gutierrez, 67 of Albuquerque, NM was born July 29, 1951 in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Pedro and Viola (Sena) Gutierrez. He passed away peacefully at his home in Albuquerque on Sunday, September 23, 2018 following an illness, his family was at his bedside. Thomas attended Fort Sumner schools, worked for Job Corps and later attended T-VI in Albuquerque. He married Anna Mabel Apodaca in 1970 at Albuquerque. Thomas worked for several years in the construction business with Kent Nolan Construction, he later worked at Rodeway Inn Motel, and for many years he was employed as a service mechanic and gardener at Sandia National Laboratory. He was a longtime member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Albuquerque. His hobbies include vintage cars, and visiting with his many friends.Thomas is preceded in death by his mother Viola Gutierrez in 2015, his father Pedro Gutierrez in 1988, a brother Robert Gutierrez in 1992, brother in law Felix Chavez, and sister in law Rosie Gutierrez.Survivors include his wife Mabel Gutierrez, a son Thomas Gutierrez and wife Beverly, one granddaughter Nichole Gutierrez, all of Albuquerque, three sisters, Isabel Chavez of Fort Sumner, Ruby Martinez and husband Benny of Los Lunas, NM, and Diana Segura and husband Lorenzo of Lubbock, Texas, two brothers Andy Gutierrez of Santa Fe, and Lewis Gutierrez of Fort Sumner, along with a host of other relatives and many friends.Thomas had a love for classic vehicles. Recitation of the most holy rosary will be at 7:00pm Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 at San Jose Mission Church, 2010 Los Lucero’s Rd. NW in Albuquerque. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM, burial will follow in the family plot at St. Anthony Cemetery with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Dominguez, Franklin Kincaid, Brandon Chavez, Danny Apodaca, Pete Apodaca, and Ernest Gonzales.
