Susan Gallegos

Susan Apodaca Gallegos, 66 passed away on September 18, 2024 in Albuquerque, NM following an illness. She was born August 27, 1958 in Clovis, NM to the home of Manuel and Candelaria Sandoval Apodaca. She grew up and went to school in Clovis. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1976. She married Charles Gallegos on December 27, 1976 in Clovis, NM. Together they would have three beautiful daughters. 

Susan moved to Fort Sumner in 2007, where she was a home health caretaker. Susan enjoyed cruising through the Fort Sumner Valley, listening to music, traveling, reading, and watching her favorite show, The Little House on the Prairie. Most of all Susan loved to spend time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. 

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Benny Apodaca, a great grandson Corbin Aragon Maxwell, and her life partner Johnny Rodriguez. 

Susan is survived by her three daughters: Stephanie (Josh) Lewis of Newberry, South Carolina, Andrea Maxwell and Charlene Gallegos both of Fort Sumner; eleven grandchildren: Carlos (Gina) Gallegos, Nathaniel (Victoria) Maxwell, Kayla (Reyes) Maxwell, Noah Maxwell, Jacob (Evangelese) Maxwell, Monique (Raekwon) Baldwin, Megan (RJ) Midkiff, Devon (Kali) Lewis, Isaiah Lewis, Elijah Lewis, and Alex Chavez, and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Juana (Wayne) Lahti and Belinda (Buddy) Lowther both of Colorado Springs, CO, Anna Dodge of Mesquite, TX, and one brother Jake (Debbie) Martinez of West Minister, Colorado. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 1pm to 6pm at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. Followed by cremation with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Urn bearers will be all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
