Funeral services for Sondra Ray Jack, 82 of Tolar, NM will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, New Mexico with Dan Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memory, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Sondra Ray Jack was born December 25, 1940 ito the home of Scott Ray and Kathleen (Welch) Brown. Sondra passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 in a Lubbock, TX hospital following a sudden illness.

She grew up in Farmington, NM where she attended and graduated from high school. She attended Colorado Women's College in Denver. Sondra married Robert "Bob" Jack on August 18, 1959 at the family ranch north of Tolar, NM. Sondra and Bob operated East Mountain Feed and Cedar Crest Hardware in Cedar Crest, NM. Sondra also worked as a phone switchboard operater. They made their home north of Tolar in 1988. Sondra worked for several years with the Pat and Sandy Lyons family as a caregiver for their daughter, Amy. Sondra was a teachers aide, Special Education aide, and Art teacher at House Schools for over 30 years until her retirement in May 2021. She also volunteered as an EMT for House Fire and Rescue for 15 years, and currently served at the Vice President of Powderhorn Cowbelles. Sondra is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fort Sumner.

As a pastime, Sondra enjoyed drawing, reading, and tending to her fish pond. She was a ranch wife who loved the outdoors, and caring for their cattle and horses.

Sondra and Bob made their home in San Antonio, and El Paso, TX, Albuquerque, Tijeras, and Cedar Crest before returning the the family ranch north of Tolar in 1988.

Sondra is preceded in death by her parents, a son Jeff Jack on March 14, 2020, and a brother Ken Brown on February 3, 2018.

She will be missed by her family, her husband of 62 years, Robert "Bob" Jack of the ranch home, one daughter Bethany Ann Maisano (Vince) of Albuquerque, three sons Robert Kerry Jack (Marian) of Moriarty, Roger Brett Jack (Lisa) of Moriarty, Jason Cory Jack (Lara) of Fort Sumner, a daughter-in-law Ramona Jack of Farmington, and one sister Carolyn Kitchens of Taiban. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren along with a host of friends.
