Socorro Pallares

Mr. Socorro Pallares, 85 of Elida, NM passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque following an illnesss. He was born January 21, 1937 in San Miguel de los Anchondos, Chihuahua, Mexico to the home of Bruno Pallares and Elena Pallares Meza. Socorro made his home in House, NM for many years. He raised his family, worked as a ranchhand and later in the maintenance department with House Schools. He moved to Portales, NM in 2017. He was a member of Iglesia Apostolica de la fe en Cristo Jesus. Socorro is preceded in death by his wife Erminia Pallares in 2000, his parents, two brothers Ramon Pallares and Luis Pallares, five sisters Aurelia Romero, Alicia Lopez, Guadalupe Martinez, Manuela Madrid, and Maria de Jesus Armenta, and a son in law Ernesto Gutierrez. Survivors include a daughter Fabiola Gutierrez of Portales, four sons Socorro Pallares (Duste) of Sanger, TX, Ray Pallares (Myriam) of Hobbs, NM, Jose Pallares of Portales, NM, and Javier Pallares (Rachel) of Volant, PA. Also surviving are three grandsons Zeke Gutierrez (Myra) of South Bend, IN, Moses Gutierrez (Claudia) of Portales, NM, Marcus Pallares of Hobbs, NM, three granddaughters Micaah Wold (Alex) of St. Hedwig, TX, Andrea Jones, and Britany King, 8 great-grandchildren, and a brother Monse Pallares (Julia) of Lovington, NM along with a host of other relatives and many friends. Visitation hours for family and friends will be held from 2pm to 7pm on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Trinity Church, 601 S. Avenue B, Portales, NM. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 pm with Ivan Chavarria leading the service. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Monday, May 16, 2022 from Trinity Church with Jose Manuel Gobin officiating. Burial will follow at Portales Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Socorro Pallares, Javier Pallares, Ray Pallares, Marcus Pallares, Zeke Gutierrez, Emiliano Gutierrez and Moses Gutierrez. Honorary bearers will include Monse Pallares, Jesus Manuel Lopez, and Jose Pallares. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, NM. (575) 355-2311.
