Sammie Ruth Niesen, 83 a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Sammie was born November 23, 1937, to John H and Lillian (Koon) Bennet in Chilton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Raymond Lee. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Niesen, her daughter Vicki Niesen (Jamal), sons Jody Niesen (Jennifer) and Barry Niesen (Gina); her grandsons, Sam Sandarusi, Kasey Sandarusi and Benjamin Niesen. Sammie and Bob moved to New Mexico from Waco, TX in 1962 and both worked in the energy industry most of their careers. Sammie retired from APS Four Corners Power Plant in 1996 after 26 years working at Contract Analysis. They moved to Fort Sumner in 2001 after retiring. Sammie was most proud of her children and grandchildren’s achievements, as she has raised three engineers and has three grandsons in the science’s as well. Sammie will be remembered as a kind but strong soul. Sammie was active in the APS companies community outreach program where she was a balloon animal clown known as “Fluffy” and volunteered for community events and children’s needs. She loved being with her family, friends and dog, Shadow. Visitation hours for family and friends were held from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday, February 13, 202 at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, NM. Graveside interment services will be held at 1:00 pm (C.S.T.) Friday, February 19, 2021 at Carolina Cemetery, in Lott, Texas.
