Sally C. Griego

Sally C. Griego, 85 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away at UNM Hospital Sandoval, in Rio Rancho, NM.

Sally was born on May 20, 1937 in Cuervo, NM to Bernardo L. Griego and Genoveva (Benavidez) Griego.  Sally was raised in Cuervo and Santa Rosa, where she attended school and graduated from Santa Rosa High School. 

Sally worked as a waitress for several restaurants in Santa Rosa for many years.  She also worked annually for the Guadalupe County Fair as a security monitor and as a dispatcher for New Mexico State Police.  A life-long resident of Santa Rosa, Sally was also a parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Sally was active in the Campos Senior Citizens Center, the Guadalupe County Fair and the Santa Rosa Rotary Club.  Sally enjoyed cooking, baking, having bake sales and helping anyone in need.

Sally is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Charlie Griego and Bernardo Griego, Jr. and two sisters: Mary Carabajal and Erlinda Nicholson.

Sally is survived by her children: Howard Griego of Santa Rosa, Patsy Linden of Puerto De Luna and Jacqueline (Phillip) Gonzales of Rio Rancho, a sister: Angie Lopez of Socorro, NM, her grandchildren: Mark (Rene) Micelli of Santa Rosa, Andrew Griego of Colorado Springs, CO, Adan (Kayla) Fernandez of Albuquerque, and Katrina Gonzales, Patrick Gonzales and Phil Gonzales—all of Rio Rancho.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Anthony, Monica, Madison and Mia Micelli—all of Santa Rosa.

Holy Rosary will be held at 9:30 am followed by the Funeral Mass at 10AM on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
