Ruth Helen Maxwell McFarland, 73 of Fair Play, Missouri passed away in Fair Play on Thursday, December 20, 2024 following an illness. She was born November 19, 1951 in Vinton, Iowa to the home of James Don and Helen Louise (Lubbock) Maxwell.
Ruth grew up in Canada, Minnesota, Florida, and Colorado. She graduated from Longmont High School in Longmont, Colorado. She began her college at the Univsrsity Of Colorado and later attended Yavapai Community College in Prescott, Arizona. Ruth was a violinist with the Colorado Symphony for several years. She was later a stay at home mother and raised her two sons. Ruth moved to Missouri where she worked in Real Estate as a property manager until her recent retirement. Ruth was raised in the Baptist faith, she was a member of Pittsburgh Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, Texas.
According to her sons, Ruth enjoyed spending time in her flower and vegetable garden, enjoyed all pets including dogs, cats, chickens and horses. She enjoyed quilting and loved to cook.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Sharon McGrew.
Survivors include two sons, Seth McFarland of Dubois, Wyoming, and Jeremy McFarland of Fort Sumner, NM, one brother Dr. James D. Maxwell and his wife Leslie of Naples, Florida along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 26, 2024 in the Garden of Faith, Fort Sumner Cemetery with Dr. Joe Bunce officiating. Her sons will assist as pallbearers.
