Rudolpho "Rudy" Chavez

Rudolpho Adan Chavez, 80 of Cuervo, NM, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Logan, NM.

Rudy was born on November 8, 1942 in Cuervo, NM to Alfonso and Lucia Chavez.  Rudy was raised in Cuervo where he attended school as well as in Santa Rosa, where he graduated from high school.  Rudy played football for the Lions and was always a fan of the Lions.

On May 3, 1965, Rudy married Judy Barela, and together they made their home in Cuervo, NM.  Rudy worked for Santa Rosa Lake State Park in trucking and construction, and later was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, until his retirement in 2021.  Rudy was a life-long parishioner at Santo Niño Mission Church in Cuervo.

Rudy is preceded in death by his wife: Judy, his parents and his brothers: Gene Chavez, Joe Chavez and Cecilio Chavez, Sr.—all of Cuervo.

Rudy is survived by his siblings: Gabriel, Mary Ann, Rita and Frank—all Bernalillo, NM and Daniel of New Kirk, NM as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends. 

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 3, 2023, beginning at 9AM, at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, with Father Moses Nwonkwo officiating the services.

Interment of cremains will follow at Santo Niño Cemetery in Cuervo, NM.

Urn Bearer will be Cecilio Chavez, Jr, with Honorary Urn Bearers being Porky Jones and Billy Johnson.
