Ruben Chavez

Ruben Chavez, 84 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Ruben was born on March 3, 1938 in Carrizozo, NM to Ruben Chavez and Margaret (Martinez) Chavez. Ruben was raised in Carrizozo, with his three siblings, where he also attended school. Ruben served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Ruben made his home in Santa Rosa with his wife Mary Jane Chavez. He worked for Pendleton Propane as a dedicated propane delivery driver for 20 years. He prided himself with working hard and making friends with all those that he met. Ruben was a parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Ruben truly enjoyed spending time with his family. Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law: Pete Cordova and his sisters: Sandra and Evelyn. Ruben is survived by his wife: Mary Jane, of the family home, sons: Daryl (Jennifer) Cordova, Nathan Gold and daughter: Danielle Gold (Phil Aragon), grandchildren: Natasha (Patrick), Sarah, Jordan, Evangeline, Jonas and William. Ruben is also survived by his mother-in-law: Mabel Cordova, brother-in-law: Horacio Lopez, sister: Patty (Maxie) Saucedo, sister-in-law: Yolanda (John) Serrano and brother-in-law: Peter Salazar; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends. Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 10am at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM, with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date in Carrizozo, NM. Urn Bearers will include: Jordan Aragon, Evangeline Aragon, Natasha and Patrick Eyster and Sarah, Jonas and William Cordova.
