Roseann “Bill” Houlihan, 77 a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away Monday, February 27, 2023. Roseann was born August 12, 1945 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to the home of Joseph Alfred Braden and the former Beulah Ardelia Shelley.
The story about how she received the name Bill. Roseann’s sister, Elaine was about 4 and Roseann was around 2, the boys were all at school and her mother Beulah was going to help her husband Joseph bring in the Corn. She dressed the girls in some of their brother Wendell’s overalls and set them up on the wagon to go to the field. Grandpa came up to the wagon and said " Well look there is Bill and Tommy". Her brothers all called them Bill and Tommy. When her brother Charlie was working on ranches in New Mexico, Roseann would come to visit him and he always introduced her as “my sister Bill”.
Roseann grew up in the Dixie and Rigsby, Oklahoma communities. She attended Mr. Brodell’s one room school until the 8th grade. Roseann graduated from Cleveland High School, Cleveland, Oklahoma in 1963. She continued her education at Oklahoma State University.
Roseann married Danny Houlihan on December 31, 1972 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Together they enjoyed golfing, playing cards with friends and family, reading, traveling, and singing together.
Roseann worked as an accountant for many years in Farmington, El Paso, and Albuquerque including several years with the Wendy’s franchise until her retirement.
Roseann is preceded in death by her husband Danny Houlihan on November 20, 2021, her father Joe A Braden in 1979, mother Beulah Braden in 2006, three brothers Stanley Braden in 1992, Charles Braden in 1999, Howard Braden in 2016, two nieces Jane Ann Braden in 1980, and Shelley Ann Lee in 2019, a nephew Jack Braden in 2005, and her mother and father-in-law Patrick and Pauline Houlihan.
Survivors include a brother Wendell Braden, and a sister Elaine Lee (Chester) both of Cleveland, Oklahoma, four nieces Missy Pinkerton (Kevin) of Cleveland, OK, Kellie Scarbrough of Owasso, OK, Jamie Horton of Cleveland, OK, Sherri Smith (Randall) of Cleveland, OK, five nephews Stanley Braden (Vaydene), Sonny Braden of Mannford, OK, Butch Braden (Tammy) of Welch, OK, Murphy Braden of Cleveland, OK, and Murry “Bubba” Braden (Judy) of Cleveland, OK along with a host of great nieces, nephews, her Houlihan family, other relatives and many friends who loved her dearly.
A memorial Mass for Roseann and Dan Houlihan will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, March 25, 2023 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, New Mexico with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Interment of cremains will be with her husband Dan at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Honorary bearers will include Sonny Braden, Murphy Braden, Murry Braden, Stanley Braden, Wendell Braden, and Chester Lee.
