Roger Allen Wakefield Sr.

Roger Allen Wakefield Sr. 83, of Tucumcari, NM passed away September 18, 2024 at his home. He was born on May 28, 1941 in Clayton, Missouri to the home of Raymond Edward Wakefield and Edith Sadie (Westphal) Wakefield. Roger grew up in Manchester, Missouri and graduated from Parkway High School in 1960. 

Roger enlisted into the United States Marine Corp prior to high school graduation. He served eight years in the Marines as a bodyguard to the Admiral on the USS Hornet. 

Roger married Paula Juanita Trujillo on March 16, 1961 in Long Beach California. Roger worked for Harrawood Inc. making asphalt, he later became an expert in the erection of architectural steel. Roger retired as an OSHA Safety Officer in 2005 and him and Paula moved to Tucumcari. 

Roger was a member of the Divine Connection Church in Tucumcari, and the American Legion. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working around the house. He thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with the love of his life Paula, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Denine Wakefield. Roger will be missed by his wife Paula of the family home in Tucumcari, three children Roger (Nita) Wakefield Jr of Amarillo, TX, Nancy (Steve) Jones of Arnold,  Missouri, and Timothy (Linda) Wakefield of Nampa, Idaho. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, one brother Raymond Wakefield of Ballwin, Missouri, and other relatives and friends. 

Memorial Service will be Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 2 PM at Divine Connection Church in Tucumcari, with Pastor Fred Caton officiating.
