Robert F. Word, 77 of McAlister, NM passed away Wednesday evening, June 3, 2020 at his home following an illness. Robert was born February 26, 1943 in Clovis, NM to the home of Fred and Leota (Wikle) Word. He grew up in the McAlister community and attended school at House, NM. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps, he enlisted on September 5, 1961 and served with the 1371 Combat Engineer. Robert received the Good Conduct Medal and a Rifle Expert Badge. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 4, 1966. Robert worked for Truck Stops of America in Dallas for several years. He was a truck driver most of his life. He delivered supplies for Sonic Drive In for many years. Robert also owned and operated a trucking company, Living Legend Transportation. Robert Married Pamela Kloss on August 27, 1983 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. They made their home in Phoenix, AZ before settling in McAlister, NM in 1990. Robert retired in 2013. Robert attended The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner. He was a member of the American Rifle Association. His favorite pastime was horseback riding. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Pamela Word of the home in McAlister, NM, children Joelle Johnston of Roswell, Bobbie Mitchell and husband Wesley of Reserve, LA, Dale Dominguez and husband Gustavo of Dallas, Faron Danley and wife Donna of Stephenville, TX, Michael Danley and wife Lisa of Terrell, TX, Jason Walker and wife Ashley of Boise, Idaho, Angela Walker of Gilbert, AZ, and Aaron Walker of Fort Collins, CO, also surviving are two sisters, Martha Mimms and husband Jerry of Baton Rouge, LA, and Wanda Bartman and husband Lenny of Appleton, Wisconsin. Other survivors include 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 19, 2020 at the Word family home, 4150 Quay Road 32, McAlister, NM. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
