Philip Andrew Sena

Philip Andrew Sena, 44 a lifelong resident of Melrose, NM passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024. Philip was born September 14, 1979. He grew up in Melrose where he attended school. He participated in Melrose Buffalo sports including football, basketball, and track. Philip graduated from Melrose High School in 1998. 

Philip married Charity Downey on March 27, 1999 in Melrose. He worked in the concrete construction business as a framer and concrete finisher. He began working after high school with Nick Griego Construction. He was currently working for C.G.'s Concrete in Peralta, NM.

Philip was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Melrose. He was a devoted husband, son, and father who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed attending his children's sporting events, hunting and fishing. His favorite football team was the Chicago Bears.

Philip is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Pedro Sena and his paternal grandmother Felisa (Sena) Runion.

Survivors include his wife Charity Sena of Melrose, five children Sterling Sena (Landry) of Melrose, Tristan Sena (Monique) of Clovis, Isabelle Sena of Melrose, Maxwell Sena of Melrose, and Walter Sena of Melrose. One granddaughter Autumn Sena and another grandchild expected soon. His parents Andy and Virginia Sena of Melrose, maternal grandfather Blas Sena of Melrose, maternal grandmother Rosa Sena of Melrose, and his mother and father in law Craig and Karen Downey of McAlister, NM along with a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.

Rosary and the funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 921 N. Merriwether Street, Clovis, NM with Father Franklin Iwuagwu officiating. Interment will follow at Melrose Cemetery, Melrose, New Mexico. Pallbearers will include Anthony James Sena, Michael Sena, Sam Garcia, Victor Hernandez, Gabriel Garcia, Tim Garcia, Gabriel Martinez, and Teddy Garcia. Honorary bearers will include Michael Rael, DJ Lopez, Caleb Sena, and Joshua Sena, Jeff Sena and Jack Smithson.
