Patricia Ann Long, 84 a resident of Portales, New Mexico passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Wheatfields Senior Living Community in Clovis following an illness. She was born April 25, 1934 in Los Angeles, California. Following high school, Patricia attended cosmetology school. She worked for many years as a cosmetologist and as a cosmetology instructor, she was also a dairy owner and operator, a bar manager, and a rancher. She married Deral Long in Eureka, California on March 17, 1953. They made their home in Northern California from 1934-1965, in Roswell, NM 1967-68, and in Fort Sumner from 1968-1981, they have made Portales their home since 1981. Patricia enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, completing crossword puzzles, and taking care of her dogs. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Gertrude Davis, her husband Deral Long in 2006, a son Patrick Henry Long in 1996, a brother Bill Worley in 1997, and a sister Margie Barns in 2018. Survivors include a daughter Dee Ratliff of Portales, daughter in law Jean Long of La Mesa, NM, one granddaughter, Tammy Ratliff of Portales, three grandsons Deral Ratliff of Portales, Patrick (Kristina) Long, of La Mesa, NM, William (Crystale) Long of Anthony, NM, four great-granddaughters China Bartz of Portales, Katherine Long of La Mesa, NM, Elizabeth Long and Rebecca Long of Anthony, NM and two great-grandsons Alex Bartz of Portales, and Henry Long of Anthony, NM along with other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2pm Saturday, November 24, 2018 in the Long family plot, at Fort Sumner Cemetery with Rev. Sotero Sena officiating. Pallbearers will include William Long, Arron Long, Deral Ratliff, Jorge Ochoa, Steve Villanueva, and Jim Simmons. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
