Holy Rosary for Pablo Aguilar was recited at 7:00 PM, Friday, June 4, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM. The Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 5, 2021 at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM. Interment of cremains with military honors followed at San Jose Cemetery. Pablo Andres Aguilar, 61 of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 following an extended illness. He was born in La Loma, NM on September 20, 1959. Pablo was raised by his grandparents Jose P. Aguilar and Reneta Martinez. He attended schools in Anton Chico and Santa Rosa. He left Santa Rosa High School before graduation and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He spent four years in the Army. Following his honorable discharge, he joined the NM National Guard, Santa Fe Unit. He was employed for many years as a Correctional Officer with the Penitentiary of New Mexico of Santa Fe. Pablo retired from the NM Highway Department Of Transportation, District 4, Chip Seal Crew in Las Vegas. Pablo was a longtime member of San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico and a member of American Legion Post 101. He loved the outdoors, fishing, four-wheeling, camping, and being at the lake with his family and friends. Pablo is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Jose P. Aguilar and Reneta Martinez , Geronimo “Jerry” Salas, his brother Joaquin Aguilar, sister-in-law Carol Aguilar, an Uncle Joe Barela, and a nephew Raymond Aguilar. Pablo’s family and friends will feel his loss immeasurably. They have placed him in God’s eternal care. Pablo’s extended family includes his fiancé Lupe Apodaca of Las Vegas, his mom Ramona Salas of Albuquerque, a son Alberto “A.J.” Aguilar (Danica) of Las Vegas, daughters Desiree Maddux (Benjamin) of Sapello, Michele Apodaca (Louie)and family, Victoria Penix (Toby) and family, and Nonnah Sedillo (Garred) and family all of Las Vegas, three grandchildren Daya Maddux, Arilyn Maddux of Sapello, and Niko of Las Vegas; four brothers Carlos Aguilar (Frances) of Albuquerque, Junior Aguilar of Albuquerque, Ruben Lucero (Margaret) of Las Vegas, Randy Lucero (Roxanne) of Tecolotito, eight sisters Dorothy Maes (Mike) of Albuquerque, Bernadette Montano (Allen Sr.) of Albuquerque, Theresa Sims (Danny) of Albuquerque, Louella Salas of Placitas, Loretta Trujillo (Silvano) of Albuquerque, Lorraine Lucero (Frank) of Amarillo, Anna Bustos (Ricky) of Amarillo, and Andrea Potter (Wayne) of Amarillo along with a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Honorary bearers will include Valentin Salas, Lalo Baca, Joseph Salazar, Robert Apodaca, Jesus Montoya, Ernest Trujillo, Chris Benavidez, John Gutierrez, Carlos Aguilar Sr., Joe Aguilar Jr., Jeanie Moore, Valentin Tenorio, Damian Maes and all his many friends and family.
