Onesimo Cordova, 85, of Santa Rosa, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his loving family on October 5, 2018. Onesimo was born in Sombrillo, NM-near Pastura, to the home of Frutoso Cordova and Francesquita (Chavez) Cordova on July 20, 1933. A life-long resident of Santa Rosa and parishioner of Santa Rosa De Lima, Onesimo worked for New Mexico Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1987. Onesimo spent a great deal of time with his family, he was devoted to them, and they to him. He was an accomplished cook and baker, and enjoyed preparing meals for his loved ones. He also enjoyed the company of his dog, Maverick. Onesimo is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Dilia A. Cordova in 2011, a daughter; Irene Cordova, and son-in-law; Tony Sena. Onesimo is survived by his daughters; Ernestine and husband David Encinias of Santa Rosa and Elaine Sena of Reno, Nevada. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Christine Encinias-Chavez, Liz Encinias, Estevan Encinias, Alex Encinias, Catherine Sena, John Michael Sena and wife Nancy, Jessica and husband Mark Sells and ten great-grandchildren; Pablo Chavez, Felisha Chavez, Christian Chavez, Roger Encinias, Ryan Nelson, Emily Sena, Logan Sena, Jozette Sells, Rebekah Sells and Andrew Sells. Urn Bearers are; Estevan Encinias, Alex Encinias, Pablo Chavez, Christian Chavez, Roger Encinias, Gregorio Lopez Jr., and Lupe Lopez. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be said Friday, October 12, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. from Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating.
