Norman Donald Moore 88 was born, August 15, 1933, in Ellis County, OK to the home of Leonard and Helena (Loewen) Moore. He arrived at his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. He was raised in Ellis County, OK and Higgins, Texas. Norman attended schools at Bishop and Higgins. Norman served in the U.S. Army; he was honorably discharged on May 24, 1955. Norman married Delores Ruth Fechner on November 28, 1952, in Higgins, Texas. They made Fort Sumner their home in 1966. Norman worked in the Signal Maintenance Department for the BNSF Railroad for 44 years, retiring in 1995. Following his retirement, Norman worked as a transporter for the railroad engineers. He later worked for Chavez Funeral Home for 4 years. Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Delores on March 13, 2010, his father Leonard E Moore, his mother Helena Moore a great grandson Kaleb and a granddaughter J ‘Lisa Moore, his brother-in-law Marvin Knox. He is survived by his four children, Dana, (David) Smith, Sheryl (Mickey) Cones, Nathan (Nancy) Moore and Janell (Dennis) Ball; his grandchildren whom he dearly loved: Michael Cones, Crystal (David) Crockett, Danielle Smith, Davette (Jordan) Dalton, Glynda and James Kvech, Leandra Moore, Johnna Moore and his precious Great Grands Ethan, Alycea, Evianna, Jesenia, Tavryn, Kaleb and Loralei. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Knox of Oklahoma, a cousin Max Holder of Washington and with many nieces and nephews. Norman was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Sumner, NM. The family prefers memorial contributions in memory of Norman Moore to the Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 629, Portales, NM 88130, Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 180, Fort Sumner, NM 88119. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner with Dr. Joe Bunce officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Hope at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dick Haynes, Jerry Gonzalez, Tommy Irwin, Buddy Cortese, Kevin Grant, Duane Koss, Jorge Ramirez and his Grandson Michael Cones. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class. Visitation will be Friday April 1, 2022, from 1pm to 6pm at the Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
