Miguel Martinez, 106 of Santa Rosa, NM passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Vecinos Sanos Assisted Living in Santa Rosa. Miguel was born in Colonias, NM to the home of Rudolpho and Emilia (Gonzales) Martinez on February 26, 1913. Miguel moved to Santa Rosa and worked for the Rail Road for 18 years. After his tenure with the Rail Road, he worked on many area ranches, and later worked for the City of Santa Rosa, where he retired. Miguel was a devout parishioner of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He attended Mass regularly and regularly attended annual Church functions. In addition to his devotion to the Church, Miguel thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Miguel is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vicenta (Esquibel) Martinez in 2000 and sisters; Lita Gonzales, Amada Martinez, Genoveva Martinez and Abelina Sena. Miguel is survived by his son; Michael Martinez and wife Danette of Carlsbad, NM, his daughter; Angelica Flores and husband Max of Santa Rosa, NM, Grandsons; Mikey Martinez and wife Jennifer of Carlsbad, NM and Luis Flores and wife Sabrina of Alamogordo, NM; Granddaughters; Bernadette Flores of Santa Rosa, NM, Ann Marie Cline and husband Darrell and Michelle Martinez, all of Carlsbad, NM. He is also survived by his nieces; Emily Sandoval, Lydia Jacquez and Bertha Sandoval, his nephews; Robert Martinez, James Martin Sena and Gene Gonzales, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the family plot at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa, with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Pallbearers will be; Luis M. Flores, Michael E. Martinez, Jerry Jaramillo, Billy Casaus, Vicente Urioste and Silver Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Abeyta, Chris Griego, Ernest Chavez, Richard Chavez, George Dodge, John Montoya, Nelson Kotiar, John Serrano, James “Bozo” Cordova, Joey Muniz, Adam Gallegos, James Quintana, and all of his grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
