Mary Lou Vasquez

Mary Lou Vasquez, 78 of Tucumcari, NM passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Mary Lou was born on August 6, 1945 in Tucumcari to Juan Calbert and Genevieve (Romero) Calbert.  Mary Lou was raised in Tucumcari, where she also attended school.  Mary Lou was married to Jose Vasquez in July of 1984.

Mary Lou was a long-time nursing assistant and cook, and was a parishioner at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.

In her spare time, Mary Lou enjoyed making arts and crafts, repurposing old furniture and shopping.  Mary Lou also enjoyed music and dancing and had the knowledge and skill using natural herbs.  However, Mary Lou’s greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, her son: Julian Calbert, Sr. and her brother: Santiago Calbert.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband: Jose, of the family home, her children: Evelyn (Orlando) Calbert, Raquel (C.J.) Oglesby, Erica Vasquez, Julian Calbert, Jr. and Anjolie Vasquez, all of Tucumcari.  Also surviving Mary are her grandchildren: Kari Calbert, Destini Cordero, Juan Gallegos and great-grandchildren: Landon Calbert, Lincoln Hyslop and Karter Cordero, as well as many nephews, nieces, family and friends.
