Mary Gerhardt

Mary Gerhardt, 89, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at home with her 3 daughters by her side. Mary was born on July 20, 1932, in Santa Rosa, where she was raised and attended school. Mary retired from the Santa Rosa Schools where she was employed as a prep cook. Mary had an avid love for crocheting, sewing, crafts and reading. She looked forward for her daughter Marie to take her out for afternoon drives. She had a tremendous love for her pet Chihuahua Bellita. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her sister Esther and other friends daily, they would check up on each other. Mary is preceded in death by her mother Amelia Sandoval, husband of 63 years Gilbert Gerhardt, daughter Patsy Romero, brother Joe Marquez, brothers in law; Fred and Robert Gerhardt and Ken Gunville, Nephews; Leonard and Steve Garcia and son in law L. A. Sena. Mary is survived by her daughters; Marie Gerhardt-Sena (caregiver), Shirley Garley and Jessica Gerhardt, sisters; Esther Gallegos (Arthur), Lala Gunville, sisters in law; Dolores Gerhardt and Oma Garcia (Ezequiel), 11 grandchildren, 19 greatgrandchildren and 1 great greatgrandchild. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 2-6 PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa, NM. Recitation of the Holy Rosary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 10 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM with Father Christopher Bernabe as celebrant. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband Gilbert at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa, NM with Jason Storey, Mike Sena, Brandon Valdez, Josh Urban, Kevin Urban, Marcus Valdez and Matthew Montoya serving as pallbearers.
