Maria “Maggie” Romero, 90 of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Maggie was born on May 9, 1931 in Colonias, NM to Jose F. Ulibarri and Maria M. Ulibarri (Olivas). Maggie was raised in Colonias as well as in Santa Rosa, NM. In 1957, Maggie was united in marriage to Pete Romero in Santa Rosa and they were married for 42 years before his passing in 1999. As Pete was a United States Marine, he and Maggie lived in various locations throughout the United States. Following his Honorable Discharge, he and Maggie settled in Albuquerque in 1972. Making her home in Albuquerque, Maggie was an active parishioner at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church. Furthermore, Maggie was a devout Roman Catholic—devoted to her faith, she prayed the Rosary daily. Maggie was employed by Presbyterian Hospital in Food Service, retiring in 1986. Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Pete, daughter; Sylvia Romero, grandchildren; Nathan Romero, Adam Padilla and Maggie Flores, sisters; Isabel Ulibarri, Stella Martinez (Alcario) and Mela Bonney (Eduardo), brothers; Jose Ulibarri (Patsy), Ramon Ulibarri (Pat) and sister-in-law; Viola Ulibarri. Maggie is survived by her sons; Gilbert Ulibarri (Shirley) and Phillip Romero (Lupe), both of Albuquerque, her daughters; Barbara Padilla (Larry), Rosemary Flores (John), Linda Gutierrez (Mike), all of Albuquerque and Eva Romero (Sergio) of West Palm Beach, Florida, 24 grandchildren and great-grandchildren a brother; Eloy Ulibarri of Albuquerque, as well as numerous family, relatives and friends. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 7pm at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 10am at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating the service. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa with Paul Griego, Ricky Chavez, Diego Flores, Kurt Flores, Manuel Romero and Javier Urban serving as Pallbearers.
