Maria Antonia Apodaca, 71 a resident of Santa Rosa since 1986 passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Vecinos Sanos Assisted Living in Santa Rosa following an illness.She was born July 6, 1947 in Leyba, NM to the home of Prudencio and Audilia (Paiz) Apodaca. She was a homemaker.Maria enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and made the best tortillas. She also loved listening to Spanish music, New Mexico Music, expecially the oldies. While her health permitted she attended St. Rose of Lima Parish in Santa Rosa. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, her infant twin brother, and brothers George, Augustine, Gilbert, Pete, and Eugenio Apodaca.Her survivors include a daughter Kathy Jo Lopez of Rio Communities, NM, two grandchildren Ryan Lopez and Rachel Ann Lopez both of Rio Communities, three sisters Jean Hailey of Belen, Emma Cordova of Lamy, and Martha Phillips who was not only a sister, but a friend and caregiver, a brother Demecio Apodaca of Los Chavez.Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be said on August 31, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Encino, NM and the Mass of Christian Burial following with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Interment will follow at Encino Catholic Cemetery.
