Magdalena “Maggie” Gallegos, 98 of Santa Rosa, NM passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Maggie was born on December 18, 1923 in Colonias, NM to Francisco Baca, Sr. and Leandra (Ulibarri) Baca. Maggie was raised in Colonias and Santa Rosa, where she also attended school—graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1942. On October 22, 1948, Maggie married Evaristo Gallegos, Jr. Together they made their home in Santa Rosa where they also raised their family. Maggie worked for the Health Office in Santa Rosa for 22 years. Maggie was a devoted parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church and was active in The Saint Rose Guild and Sacred Heart Society. In her spare time, Maggie enjoyed arrowhead hunting, however, her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family. Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Evaristo, her son: Randy, her great-grandson: Francisco and grandson: Daniel. She is also preceded in death by her In-laws: Evaristo, Sr. and Magdalena D. Gallegos and her siblings: Margaret Marquez, Trinnie Campos, Sister Mary Magdalene, Andres Baca, Celestina Casaus, Raymond Baca, Gilbert Baca, Connie Chavez and Frank Baca. Maggie is survived by her children: Kathy Baca, Michael (Colleen) Gallegos, Perla Serrano, Jo Ann Gallegos, Dennis (Margie) Gallegos, Frank (Catrina) Gallegos, Mark (Debbie) Gallegos and Matthew (Crystal) Gallegos, her 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Maggie is also survived by her siblings: Polly Maes and Boni (Sylvia) Baca and her sisters-in-law: Esther Gallegos, Vickie Baca, Marcella Baca and Polly Baca, as well as numerous family, relatives and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 1-6pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa and again from 9-10 am on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will begin at 10am on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, followed by The Mass of Christian Burial. Maggie will be laid to rest in the family plot at Saint Joseph Cemetery with Philip Baca, Francisco Baca, Jeremy Gallegos, Morgan Gallegos, Chris Gallegos, Joseph Chavez, David Gallegos and Antonio Gallegos serving as Pallbearers.
