Mrs. Louise Leber 79, passed away in Fort Sumner on Friday, July 10, 2020 following an illness. She was born March 26, 1941 in Cahone, Colorado the daughter of Luther and Sylvia (Ayers) Risenhoover. She attended Dove Creek High School. Louise married Ralph X. Leber on December 18, 1957 in Pleasantview, Colorado. They divorced in 1978. Louise enjoyed work in fields that allowed her to interact with people. She was a restaurant owner and worked in many restaurant settings. She worked as a bus driver, a postmaster, and bookkeeper. She always made a point to stop and talk to people because she never met a stranger. She served as secretary-treasurer for the San Juan Special Services District. Louise was a hard worker her entire life. Her motto was "you learn something new everyday". She retired in 2001. Louise made her home in Mexican Hat, Utah from 1983 until she moved to Fort Sumner, NM in February 2020. She loved spending time with all her family, sewing, painting, puzzles, playing cards, gardening, baking, dancing in her kitchen, cooking, and watching her favorite sport, baseball. Louise is preceded in death by a son Kerry Leber in 2020, her mother Sylvia Risenhoover in 2003, her father Luther Risenhoover in 1991, three brothers Leonard Risenhoover in 2001, Larence Risenhoover in 1967, and a brother Charles Risenhoover in 1938. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by her family, three sons Kenneth Leber of La Sal, Utah, Craig Leber (Marie) of Bayfield, CO, Larence Leber (Rose) of Moab, Utah, a daughter Rachel Thomas (Tim) of Fort Sumner, 14 grandchildren, Mitch of Olathe, CO, Daniel, Kyree (Jes) of Fort Sumner, Zachary (Kelci) of Shreveport, LA, Sommer (Sidiah) of Albuquerque, Manny of Mexican Hat, UT, Kody of Cortez, CO, Lois (Andrew) of Taylorsville, UT, Caydence (Paul of Shreveport, LA, Sabina of Moab, UT, Lari of Shreveport, LA, Keifer (Makenna) of Bayfield, CO, Kesha of Fort Sumner, Dominic (Kimmy) of Moab, UT, 12 great-grandchildren, and a daughter in law Kathie Leber. No local services are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, New Mexico. (575) 355-2311.
