Lorenzo “Trinny” Chavez, 83 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2022. Trinny was born on August 25, 1938 in Puerto De Luna, NM to Deluvino Chavez, Sr. and Rosa (Griego) Chavez. Trinny was raised in Puerto De Luna and attended school in Santa Rosa—graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1956. On June 15, 1963, Trinny married the former Carolyn “Tonie” Armijo at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Trinny and Tonie made their home in Santa Rosa, where they raised their children: Loretta and Larry. Trinny worked for Central Motors, in Santa Rosa, as the Office Manager. In 1970, Trinny became the City Administrator for the City of Santa Rosa, retiring in 1996. Trinny was a devout parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima and he was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, Trinny enjoyed coaching Little League. Trinny liked to hunt, hike and go camping with his family on annual Knights of Columbus camping trips in Pecos, NM. He also enjoyed picking piñon, supporting the 49ers and smoking his cigars. Trinny is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Deluvino Chavez, Jr., Max Chavez and Domingo Chavez, and his in-laws: Anne Spahn, Gloria Joy, Lucy Baca and Fabbie Bane. Trinny is survived by his wife of 59 years: Carolyn “Tonie” Chavez, of the family home, his children: Loretta Chavez and Lorenzo “Larry” Chavez, his grandchildren: Jacob Chavez and Debra Chavez, his siblings: Mary Cordova, Celestino “Tino” Chavez, Joe Chavez, Frank Chavez, Diana Chavez and Florence Chavez, his in-laws: Virginia Montoya, Hope Baca, Theresa Gomez, Eddie Armijo and Danny Armijo, as well as numerous family and friends. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, May 16, 2022 from 1-6pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa and again on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 9-10 am at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be said at 10am on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating the service. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, in the family plot, with Jacob Chavez, Joseph Hamil, Miguel Martinez, Francisco Chavez, Manuel Flores, Kenneth Cordova and Jose Baca, Jr. serving as Pallbearers.
