Lorena Lucero Sena, 77 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Friday evening, November 25, 2022 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis following an illness. She was born June 8, 1945 in Fort Sumner to the home of Pilar and Margarita (Lopez) Lucero. Lorena attended Fort Sumner schools. Eugene preceded her in death in 1984. Lorena was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Lorena was a dedicated worker; she began working at a young age at the laundry for Mrs. Vick. She worked for the Pecos Valley Care Center for many years. She encouraged her daughter to open Sadie’s Restaurant. Lorena loved cooking and she loved to visit with all the customers who entered the business. She made sure if anyone down on their luck came to the restaurant that they had a free meal and food to go when they left. When she was not working, Lorena enjoyed playing Bingo, watching Judge Judy Lorena was a loving and caring mother to all her children and all her babies, the grandchildren. Lorena is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Joe Sena in 1984, a son Raymond Sena in 2007, a granddaughter Valeria Sena in 2006, her parents Pilar and Maggie Lucero, one sister Mary “Tana” Sena, three brothers Pilar Lucero Jr., Freddy Lucero, and David Lopez. Survivors include a daughter Margie Martinez and husband Sandy of Fort Sumner, three sons Albert Sena and wife Geraldine, Gene Sena and wife Fran, Alex Sena and wife Heidi, and a grandson who was raised as a son, Cruz Sena and his wife Vada all of Fort Sumner. Also surviving are two sisters Isabel Lucero and Esperanza Barela both, and a brother George Lucero all of Albuquerque.. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Francis Martinez (Jennifer) of Fort Sumner, Sadie Martinez of Fort Sumner, Timmy Sena (Misty), Aaliyah and Nikko Carrol of Albuquerque, Estrella Sena of Albuquerque, Elana and Matthew Ray of Rio Rancho, Eugene Sena (Crystal) of Fort Sumner, and Crystal Sena of Phoenix, AZ, 14 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, and Nicole Martinez, Angelito and Santos Ray Lucero, Asher and Jonah Sena, Lilliana, Eliseo, and Raymond Sena, Amelia and Maggie Ray, Leah Martin, and Nadia Sena, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The family would like to thank Heidi and Vada for all their help caring for Lorena needs during her illness. Holy Rosary and the funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 29, 2022 with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Eugene Sena, Cruzito Sena, Nikko Carrol, Timmy Sena, Jordan Martinez, Francis Martinez, and Angelito Lucero.
