Lewis "Jack" Walraven, 82, of Fort Sumner, NM died Saturday, July 31, 2021 at his home following an illness. Jack was born April 06, 1939 in DeBaca County to the home of Fowler Walraven and Nina E. Long. He was reared and attended school at Fort Sumner, graduating with the class of 1957. Jack married Sarah Duncan on May 10, 1963 at Roswell, NM. Jack worked as a truck driver for National Carriers. While trucking, he was able to see most of the US, trucking from coast to coast. He also cowboyed on ranches surrounding Fort Sumner including the Gates Ranch and Drum Ranch. Jack enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and old westerns during his pastime. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Sarah in 2004, and grandson J.W. Daniels in 2012. Survivors include his daughter Jackie Beth Walraven of Fort Sumner; a son T.J. and wife Lisa Walraven of Fort Sumner. Three grandchildren Heather Daniels (David Wesely) of Pagosa Springs, CO, Kyla (Earl) Fleming of Portales, and Wade (Samantha) Walraven of Malaga, NM. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Cremation will take place, and no services are scheduled at this time.
