Kari Claypool, 52 of Tucumcari, NM passed away Friday evening, March 15, 2024 at her home following an illness. Her loving family was at her bedside. Kari was born August 27, 1971 in Dumas, Texas. Kari attended and graduated from Dumas High School in 1989. She attended Clarendon College for one year followed by Amarillo College where she received a degree in Applied Science. Kari worked as a Lab Technician for several years at PRMC Clovis, and Hansford County Hospital in Spearman, Texas.
Kari married Coe John Claypool on September 22, 1990 at the Presbyterian Church in Dumas, Texas. They made their home in west Texas and eastern New Mexico.
Kari loved to cook, quilt, and cross stitch. She enjoyed binge watching TV with her family. She enjoyed the TV show Survivor. She loved to garden, she grew peppers and tomatoes. Her garden was her reflection spot.
Kari is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Martha and James Porter, paternal grandparents Pauline & O'dell Parrish, and paternal grandparents Donald Keith and Jean Stovall, an aunt Ricki Jo Pulpin, and two cousins Ronnie Weatherford and Susie Weatherford.
Survivors include her husband Coe John Claypool of Tucumcari, her mother Ann Parish and daddy Larry of Lorena, TX, her father Marvin Leon Stovall of Burden, Kansas, two daughters Bethany Claypool (Dalton Christesson) of Tucumcari, Ronnie Jo Claypool (Joshua Walker) of Tucumcari, one son Dustin Claypool of Logan, NM, three sisters Krystal Scribner (Clay) of Elgin, TX, Kenda Pritchard (Robbie) of Round Rock, TX, Ashley Burnett of Perkins, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Elaina Raines, Alexander Claypool, Curtis Claypool, Guinevere Claypool, and Stevie Walker. Nieces and Nephews Sydney Scribner, Macy Pritchard, Alex McDonald, Thaxton Boyd, Jordan Scribner, Jerald Scribner, Kailey Ruckman, Morgan Bunch, Jacob Meiwes, and Joshua Meiwes. One sister in law Kimberly Gill (Kenneth) of Slaton, Texas and her mother and father in law Kay and John Claypool of Logan, New Mexico.
A family viewing was held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.
Cremation will take place, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
