Juanita Madrid

Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 20, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM. Holy Rosary followed by the funeral Mass and interment of cremains at St. Anthony Cemetery. Father Sotero A. Sena will officiate. Juanita (Lopez) Madrid, 72 passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the family home in Pflugerville, Texas. She was born August 22, 1949 in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Augustine and Macedonia (Barela) Lopez. She grew up in Fort Sumner where she attended and graduated from Fort Sumner High School. Juanita married Samuel Madrid in 1969. They made their home in Pflugerville, TX in 1994. She was a homemaker and loved to cook. Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Carlos Lopez, sister Mary Alice Garcia and her twin brother Juan Jose Lopez. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Samuel Madrid of Pflugerville, TX, three sons Samuel Madrid, of San Antonio TX, Jeremy Madrid (Lauren) of Austin, TX and Timothy Madrid of Austin TX, four sisters Gloria Coronado (Abel) of Albuquerque, Jean Boughton of Albuquerque, Deanna Martinez of Portales, Angela Lucero (Gilbert) of Rio Rancho, three brothers Sonny Apodaca (Irene) of Clovis, Agustin R. Lopez of Fort Sumner, and Carlos Lopez (Brenda) of Fort Sumner, also surviving are two grandsons and three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Local arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
