Juan Sotero Baca, 90 years of, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on November 16, 2020, following an illness. Juan S. Baca was born on July 11, 1930 to the home of Timoteo Baca and Eloisa (Apodaca) Baca. Juan later went on to meet Marcelina Olguin and after a brief three months, knew he had met the love of his life—they were married 64 years thereafter. Juan enjoyed living at the family ranch in Dahlia, NM. Juan enjoyed raising his children on the family ranch and showing them how to tend to ranch life. Juan’s hobbies included playing his violin and he knew how to play a little of the accordion. Juan also enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren, but nothing brought him more joy that his great-grandchildren—he looked forward to their visits. Juan is preceded in death by his wife Marcelina Baca, parents; Timoteo and Eloisa Baca, his brother; Frank Baca and sisters; Nestora Lucero and Celia Marquez, great-grandson; Ethan “Buggy” Lopez and son-in-laws; Margarito Jaramillo and Benjamin Jaramillo. Juan is survived by his sons; Narciso (Terry) Baca, Wilfred Baca, Luis Baca (Gloria), daughters; Eloisa (Gilbert) Gutierrez, Susie Jaramillo (Tony Salazar), Roberta Jaramillo and Mary (Louie) Lucero. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Joseph (Amy) Baca, Veronica (Carlos) Baca, Jaqueline (Mike) Gabbart, Monique (Joe) Romero, Kenneth (Misty) Kirtley, Ronald Gutierrez, Nathan Gutierrez, Charlene (Danny) Lopez, Katrina Jaramillo, Larry Jaramillo (Jolene Mowry), Dillon Lucero, Christopher (Trish) Lucero, Kelly Lucero, Lyle (Chelsea) Lucero and Bryan, Kim Villanueva and his great-grandchildren; Megan Zambrano, Erin Baca, Zakk Baca, Marcus Romero, Jarred Romero, Marlee Gabbert, Lyric Gabbert, Jordan Kirtley, Layla Kirtley, Ricky Chavez, Felicity Chavez, Aijsha Chavez, Zoey Jaramillo, Benjamin Jaramillo, Oliviana Jaramillo, Ashley Villanueva, Kevin Villanueva, Tamara Villanueva, Kristen Lucero, Amber Lucero and Brandon Lucero. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30am on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM with Father Timothy Meurer celebrating the Mass.
