On Friday morning, August 27, 2021, Joseph C. Brito loving husband and father of six and five stepchildren, passed away at the age of 92. Joe was born on January 10, 1929 to Lala Vigil and Segundo Brito in Bovina, Texas. Joe attended school and stopped at the 6th grade to begin work in construction and auto body repair profession. On December 19, 1986, Joe married Celina Chavez. He retired from his career in 1994. Joe was passionate about playing his keyboard and singing church hymns to his wife, Celina. He loved bowling and playing his guitar in his younger days. He was a member of San Miguel Catholic Church in Ribera, NM and was a member of the choir. Joe is preceded in death by his son; Jimmy Joe Brito. Joe is survived by his wife Celina of the family home, his five children; John Brito of Arizona, David Brito of California, Danny Brito of Texas, Larry Brito of Nevada, Jean Brito of Arizona and his five stepchildren; Victor Chavez of Texas, Fred Chavez of Texas, Albert Chavez of Tennessee, Joe Chavez of New Mexico and Julian Chavez of Utah as well as 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and sisters; Marie Cervantes and Elizabeth Sena, both of Clovis, NM, as well as many relatives, family and friends. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 6pm at San Miguel Catholic Church in San Miguel, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 1pm (CST) at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina, Texas with Father Gregory Bunyan officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Bovina Cemetery in Bovina, Texas with John Brito, Danny Brito, David Brito, Larry Brito, Fred Chavez, Joe Chavez, Rory Brito and Christopher Villareal serving as Pallbearers.
