Jose Adolf Sanchez 74, a lifetime resident of Fort Sumner passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at his home following an illness. Adolf was born in Fort Sumner, NM on September 10, 1950 to the home of Adolf Lopez Sanchez and Fedelena (Garcia) Sanchez. He grew up in Fort Sumner and attended Fort Sumner Schools, graduating with the class of 1971. Adolf enlisted in the US Marine Corps, and served in the Vietnam War. Adolf served for four years and was honorably discharged May 20, 1975.
After the Marine Corp, Adolf moved to Oklahoma and then to Hobbs, New Mexico working as an oil driller in the oil field. He returned to Fort Sumner, and worked at GNC Plumbing and later Finney Farms. He was member of the St Anthony Catholic Church, and the American Legion post 21 in Fort Sumner until it closed he transferred to post 25 in Clovis.
Adolf loved watching old westerns and wrestling, playing scrabble on the computer, fishing, and watching the Denver Broncos. He loved his family very much. He would tell you he loved his sisters when they weren't being bossy. And he was a the best "Uncle Junior" to his many nieces and nephews. He also loved to talk about his buddies.
Adolf is preceded in death by both is maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents Adolf and Fedelena Sanchez, one sister Priscilla Sanchez, his baby brother Edward D Sanchez, and one niece baby girl Priscilla Segura.
Survivors include his three sisters Toni Segura (Don), and Maria Bibiana Peelle (Alfonso) both of Clovis, NM, and Bernice "Berna" Sanchez of Fort Sumner, his ex-wife Maria Sanchez McKinstry. Also surviving are multiple generations of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A private graveside service will take place at a later date. Please keep the Sanchez family in your prayers at this time.
