Jodie Beck

Jodie Beth Beck, 54 passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa following a sudden illness. She was born June 30, 1969 in Fort Sumner to the home of Buckie and Peggy (Savoie) Beck.

Jodie attended and graduated from Fort Sumner Schools. Following high school, she worked as a waitress for Sprout's Cafe, and later as a nurses aide at De Baca General Hospital. She made her home in Amarillo for a time where she worked in medical billing. Jodie returned to Fort Sumner where she worked babysitting for several Fort Sumner families and also worked for Options Homecare for several years. Jodie worked for the De Baca County Detention Center as a Corrections Officer. In June of 2022, Jodie began work as a receptionist at the De Baca Family Practice Clinic in Fort Sumner. She left her job in June 2023 following a medical episode.

Jodie was a loving mother and spent all her extra time caring for her grandchild. She enjoyed playing Bingo, and trips with friends to Laughlin, Nevada.

Jodie is preceded in death by her parents, Buckie and Peggy Beck.

Survivors include two children, daughter Sierra Jacks of Lake Sumner and son Cameron Jacks of Fort Sumner one granddaughter Peggy Beth June Jacks of Lake Sumner, a sister Denise Beck of Fort Sumner, two aunts Kathy Beck and Katie Beck along with a host of cousins, other relatives and many dear friends and co-workers.

Visitation hours will be Friday, August 4, 2023 from 2pm to 5:30pm. A memorial will take place at 5:30pm in the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Dan Craig officiating. Friends and family are invited to share a favorite memory with the family.
