Jimmy Joe Borquez

Jimmy Joe Borquez, 70 of Tucumcari, NM, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 20, 2021. Jimmy was born on October 15, 1951 in Tucumcari, NM to Raymond Borquez and Lena (Mascareñas) Borquez. Jimmy was raised in Tucumcari, where he attended school, graduating from Tucumcari High School in 1970. On June 26, 1970, Jimmy married the former Elmira Cordova. Together, they made Tucumcari their home, where he worked and raised his family. Jimmy worked for Newt’s and Butch Construction and for Pacheco Trucking and Construction. In addition to his career, Jimmy was known as a “Jack of All Trades” and used his expertise in carpentry to build and remodel his family's home. Jimmy was a parishioner at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, where he as active in his faith. In his spare time, Jimmy enjoyed riding his motorcycles and working on old, classic cars. However, his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family and friends. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, his son: James Pacheco, his sisters: Grace Madrid and Kathy Borquez, his grandparents: Mike and Grace Diaz, his grandmother: Virginia Mascareñas and his uncle: Mike Diaz. Jimmy is survived by his wife: Elmira Borquez, of the family home, his daughter: Racheal Borquez of Las Cruces, NM, his sons: Rodney (Colleen) Borquez of Canutillo, Texas and Pete Borquez of Tucumcari, NM and his daughter: Anita (Gabe) Quintana of El Paso, Texas. Jimmy is also survived by his grandchildren: Jessie, Lane, Serena, Lacee, Isaiah, Addy, Tony, Alexis and Ozzy, his great-grandchild: Caleb, his brother: Raymond Borquez of Tucumcari, NM and his sisters: Theresa (Ken) Callahan of Albuquerque, NM, Christina Pacheco of Tucumcari, NM and Hope (Freddy) Ortiz of Tucumcari, NM, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.
