Jean (MaMa Jean) Evans, 86 a resident of Lake Sumner, NM passed away Friday evening, February 23, 2024 at Plains Regional Medical Center following an illness. She was born March 12, 1937 in Montague City, Massachusetts to the home of Walter and Esther (Staples) Cusino. She attended and graduated from Turners Falls High school in Turners Falls, Mass.
Jean worked for many years as a Electronic Technician for Hughes Aircraft in Torrance, Calif. She retired and made her home at Lake Sumner, NM in 1997. Jean was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fort Sumner and the American Legion Auxiliary at Lake Sumner. Jean enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, and loved to make crafts.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Bernard Owen in 2010, a son Kurt Ellis Hale in 1991, and two great-grandchildren Samantha Hale and Cyle Hale.
Surviors include four children, two daughters Sandy (Scott) Frodsham of Albuquerque, Jean (William) Moulton of Lake Sumner, two sons Michael Bedaw of Clovis, and Gary (Sharon) Evans Jr. of Albuquerque, one sister Carol (David) Johnson of Kean, New Hampshire, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild along with a host of extended family and friends she dearly loved.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Fort Sumner Community House.
