Janice Barbara Schade, 89 passed away at the Schade family ranch north of Fort Sumner on Saturday, October 23, 2021 following an illness. She was born September 24, 1932 in Elgin, Illinois to Robert E. and Fairy C. Armstrong. She married William Schade on March 20, 1954 in Wheaton, Illinois. Janice enjoyed serving others as a nurse, earning her BSN from St. Francis University. She finished her career in health care as the Director of Health Services for Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL. Jan and Bill made their home in various towns in Illinois. In 1985 they made their home in Prescott, AZ until 2006 when they settled in Fort Sumner, NM. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner. Survivors include three children, two daughters Cathy Stoddard and husband Dan of Paulden, AZ, Betsy Foster and husband Mark of Branson, MO, and a son Bill Schade and wife Nancy of Fort Sumner, one sister Terry Vasey and husband Ken of Berea, KY, seven grandchildren Lauren Schade of San Diego, CA, Lainy Martinez and husband Chris of Casper, Wyoming, Katie Vaporis and husband Zach of Casper, Wyoming, Alexandra Richerd and husband Sam of Prescott, AZ, Hannah Witcher and husband Mark of Branson, MO, Remington Stoddard of Flagstaff, AZ, Joel Foster of Branson, MO. four great-grandchildren Warren and Harper Martinez, Will and Aria Vaporis all of Casper, WY. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 25, 2021 in the Garden of Memory, Fort Sumner Cemetery with Dr. Joe Bunce, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating.
