Henry A Saiz

Enrique (Henry) Saiz, “Mr. Coors”, age 87 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 at St. Anthony Healthcare in Clovis, NM following an illness. His wife, Sally, was at his bedside. Henry was born August 6, 1932 in Pintada, NM to the home of Hipolito and Julianita (Sena) Saiz. He grew up and attended school in Pintada. Henry married Soledad “Sally” Romero on August 6, 1955. Henry was a lifelong rancher. He worked as a ranch hand for Albert Perez Ranch, Don Thompson Ranch, Ira Drum Ranch, Tyne Overton Ranch. He lived in Quemado, NM while working on the Junior Perez Ranch. Henry lived in Yeso, NM 1974-1983 where he worked on the McCabe Ranch. He and Sally made their home in Fort Sumner in 1983. Henry continued his ranch work on the Larry Reeder Ranch, he also worked for the Fort Sumner Feed Store. For 18 years Henry worked for R.J. Cook Oil Company, transporting fuel. He also worked for 10 years with the NM Department of Transportation in their highway maintenance department. Henry was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. He was a friend to everyone and was always available to help his friends with their ranch or farm chores. Henry always owned a few cattle and sheep to keep himself busy. Henry was a true cowboy, a good horseman and loved being horseback. He enjoyed the outdoors, and spending time with his family. Henry instilled a great work ethic in his family. Henry is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Olivia Kuchta on February 11, 2020, siblings Ocasio Cordova, Elena Sanchez, Josie Garphy, Bernice Marquez, Elena Lucero, Simona Keen, and Anita Lucero. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Soledad “Sally” Saiz of Clovis, two daughters Angie Roybal (Gilbert) of Melrose, Amy Andreas (James) of Roswell, three sons Albert Saiz (Becky) of Clovis, Michael Saiz (Kristina) of Clovis, Cory Saiz (Kit) of Amarillo, and a son in law John Kuchta of Clovis. Henry also raised two of his grandchildren Cambria Andreas and Christopher Saiz. He is survived by 14 grandchildren, Chuck (Kathy) Kuchta, Josh (Dawn) Kutcha, Ruben Hernandez, Andrea Lucero, Quintin Hilburn, Leighton Hilburn, Amiee Hilburn, Jalene Andreas, Blaed Andreas, Ethan Patterson Saiz, Jared Saiz, and Owen Olney. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family has decided to celebrate Henry’s life at a later date when all his family and friends can safely gather. Cremation has taken place.
