Helen J. Garrison

Helen J. Garrison, 83 of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on November 9, 2022. Helen was born on June 28, 1939 in Santa Rosa, NM to Atanacio Sierra and Felipita (Chavez) Sierra. Helen was raised in Colonias, NM and in Santa Rosa, attending school in Santa Rosa. Helen was owner of the Blue Bird Restaurant and later worked as a waitress at the Club Café. Helen worked for Walmart, as a cashier in Clovis, NM and in Albuquerque, NM, retiring in2012. Helen loved to cook and share food with her neighbors. She was a member of The Assembly of God Church and enjoyed reading the Bible. However, her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: James E. Garrison in 1983, her daughter: Kathy Hernandez in 2017, a grandson Nathan Ryan Garrison in 1995, and her siblings, Ray Sierra and Francis Sierra. Helen is survived by her children: Lawrence (Melissa) Garrison of Portales, NM, Donald (Desiree) Garrison of Clovis, NM, Tommy Garrison of Flagstaff, AZ, Paul Garrison of Albuquerque, NM, and daughter: Beth Garrison of Bristol, CT. Helen is also survived by her grandchildren: Justin (Victoria) Garrison, Garrett Garrison, Mariah Garrison, Lance Garrison, Dylan Garrison, Ty Garrison, Amanda (Billy) Nguyen, Shannon Garrison, Nick, Josh and Ethan Bonney, and Daniel Hernandez; and her great-grandchildren: Eleanor Garrison, Ben and Oliver Nguyen. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 1-6pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa. Graveside services will be Friday, November 18, 2022 at 1pm at San Jose Cemetery in Colonias, NM. Services are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S.
