Guillermo "Billy" Eloy Urban

Guillermo “Billy” Eloy Urban, 90 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on August 28, 2023.

Billy was born to Brigido Urban and Elvira (Martinez) Urban on March 10, 1933 in Santa Rosa, NM.  Billy was raised in Santa Rosa, where he also attended school, graduating from Santa Rosa High School.  A life-long resident of Santa Rosa, Billy was also a faithful parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

In his career, Billy was the Fuel Desk Manager at Sheriff’s Truck Stop for many years.  Later, Billy was elected Guadalupe County Assessor and was Deputy Assessor for 12 years, before retiring.  In his spare time, Billy enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports.  He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys and LA Dodgers fan.  However, Billy’s greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Angie Kluess, Mary Urban, Helen Urban, Edwina Chavez, Katie Luna and Sister Rose Urban, his brother: Roberto Urban and his granddaughter: Denise Urban.

Billy is survived by his wife: Vivian Urban, his children: Patrick (Cristina) Urban of Las Cruces, NM, Andy (Diana) Urban of Santa Rosa, Yolanda (Jose) Flores of Puerto De Luna and Debbie Urban Ulibarri of Santa Rosa, and his sister: Amelia Urban of Albuquerque.  Billy is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 1-6PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.  Then on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 8:30-9AM at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will begin at 9AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Moses Nwonkwo officiating.

Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa, with Kaitlyn Ulibarri, Hailey Ulibarri, Erika Ulibarri, Andres Urban, Joey Urban, Nathan Flores, Javier Urban, Jimmy Urban, Dennis Gallegos and Brandon Gutierrez serving as Pallbearers.
