Filomena C. Pacheco, 89, a former resident of Tucumcari and Garita, NM, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020, at Meadows Nursing Home at NMBHI in Las Vegas, NM. Filomena was born on September 12, 1930, in Garita, NM to the home of Felix and Cleofitas (Sena) Chavez. She also attended school in Garita. Filomena was united in marriage to Victor Pacheco At Sagrada Familia Catholic Chuch in Garita. It was there in Garita that Victor and Filomena raised their family and ran the family business, a gas station and bar. Filomena also served as the Post Master for the Post Office in Garita until her retirement in 1985, when the family made their home in Tucumcari. A lifelong and devoted Catholic, Filomena was a member of Sagrada Familia Catholic Church in Variadero and St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari where she was a member of the choir. Her strong devotion to the Blessed Mother led her to pray the Rosary daily. Filomena Loved to cook and bake and made sure nobody left her home with an empty stomach. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed their time together. Filomena is preceded in death by her parents Felix and Cleofitas Chavez, husband Victor Pacheco, son Albert Pacheco, grandchildren Jason and Shirley Pacheco, sister Tomasita Martinez, and brother Telesforo Chavez. Survivors include her children; Art Pacheco and wife Lorraine of Albuquerque, NM, Sylvia Gonzales and husband Gilbert of Rio Rancho, NM, Niva Romero and husband Carlos, and Victor Pacheco and wife Deanna all of Tucumcari, NM. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, June 5, 2020, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM with Father JohnPaul Afuecheta officiating. Burial took place at Sagrada Familia Cemetery in Variadero, NM with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. All services are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S.
