Fabian Madrid, 71 of Farmington, NM passed away at his home on Saturday, May 12, 2018. He was born January 20, 1947 to the home of Aniseto and Frutosa (Saiz) Madrid. He attended Fort Sumner schools graduating with the class of 1964. Fabian enlisted in the U.S. Army, he served in Vietnam as a radio operator with the 142nd Signal Battalion. Fabian was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on August 9, 1968.He made his home in Farmington, NM in 1970. Fabian was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Farmington. He enjoyed fishing at Navajo Lake and salmon fishing. Fabian grew a vegetable garden each year, enjoyed reading and loved to watch college sports.Fabian is preceded in death by his father Aniseto Madrid on December 24, 1998.Survivors include his mother Frutosa Madrid of Fort Sumner, three children, two daughters Theresa Madrid and Francine Madrid of Phoenix, AZ and a son Chris Madrid of Farmington, eight siblings a sister Patricia (Ron) Dorn of Albuquerque, seven brothers Samuel (Juanita) Madrid of Austin, TX, Juan (Marie) Madrid of Albuquerque, Daniel Madrid of Austin, TX, Vidal (Joyce) Madrid of Farmington, George (Anne) Madrid of Farmington, Carlos Madrid of Albuquerque, and Alejandro (Bertha) Madrid of El Paso, TX. Also surviving are five grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Visitation hours will be Wednesday and Thursday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home.A rosary will be recited at 7pm Thursday, May 17, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday, May 18, 2018 from the church with Rev. Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Fort Sumner. Pallbearers will include Chris Madrid, Leon Granger, Danny Madrid, Samuel Madrid, George Madrid, Carlos Madrid, Tom Madrid, and Juan Madrid.All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
