Evelyn S. Chavez, 95, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 in Amarillo, Texas. She was born December 12, 1928 in Puerto De Luna, NM to Luis Sena and Camelia Flores Sena. 

 Evelyn Married Pablo Chavez in 1966 at Fort Sumner. Evelyn worked as a Nurse Aide at the Pecos Valley Care Center in Fort Sumner for many years. Following her retirement, she continued working as a loving care giver and caretaker of friends and family for many years. Evelyn enjoyed watching shows and petting her little dog. One of Evelyn’s favorite pastimes was working Bingo with the Knights of Columbus visiting with all her friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Pablo Chavez on May 28, 2016, a sister Elvira Sena, two brothers Tony Sena, and Christian Sena. Following her husband’s death, Evelyn made her home with her daughter in Amarillo, TX.

Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Donna Monroe and husband Michael of Amarillo, TX, Evelyn Salazar of Albuquerque, a son, Johnny Pino and wife Diana of Albuquerque, and her stepson, Freddie Chavez and wife Susan of Albuquerque, one sister Ramona Padilla of Albuquerque, six grandchildren Michael Monroe, Mirranda Monroe, Patty Hutson, Jeremy Pino, Jacqueline Pino, and Jenell Pino-Van Etten along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Holy Rosary will be recited from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 114 Richards Ave., Ft. Sumner, New Mexico at 9:30am Saturday, May 4, 2024 followed by the funeral Mass and interment of cremains in the family plot at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
